Music Ministry of STPUMC

Similar to many mid-sized churches in the USA, the music ministry of STPUMC is experiencing a renewal led by God. We are transitioning from primarily having a traditional choir format in music selection and approach into being a Worship Leading Choir! In fact, we don’t call ourselves ‘the choir’ anymore! We are the Worship Ensemble. We recognize that until our hearts, minds, and souls are passionately glorifying Jesus and drawing the congregation with us, worship has not happened as fully as possible. We are not about performance or being ‘slick’ we are about willingly revealing on the outside what God is doing on the inside. We sing for God as our audience, yet understand our calling to musically ‘usher’ the congregation into the presence of the Almighty. We use any style of music which will best reinforce the scripture of the day; therefore, the music selection is very diverse. Showing great talent is not primary. Being a cheerful servant with strong character and faithfulness to commitment is primary. The gifts of soloists, instrumentalists, and other musical combinations are exercised throughout the year. The Worship Ensemble practices on Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary.

We also have a Children’s Choir that practices on Sunday mornings at 9:15 a.m. in the Sanctuary and presents their offerings regularly.
